Trash Service Info

• Trash and recycling will be picked up twice a week from May through September. Roll out and roll back service twice a week will be from June through September. Our staff rolls out cans on Sunday and Thursday for next day pickup. Roll back service is provided once a week October through May.
• Trash can and recycling service is provided. Recycling cans have yellow lids. Do not overfill or leave bags or boxes outside of trash or recycling containers. Only household garbage in bags will be collected from the trash cans. Filters, pool toys, pool umbrellas, broken chairs, yard debris, tree trimmings, etc. should be placed at the curb (stacked so as not to blow away, yard waste in bags) and contact Bay Disposal for a “bulk” pick-up. • Bay Disposal rents cans annually for $72 per can for trash and extra recycling. Included in this rental price is the replacement of damaged carts at no extra charge. Bay Disposal can also sell trash cans for $125 each. These cans have no warranty. Must pay in full upfront for all cans.
• Recycling: The County will provide one recycling container per household. Since this container is considered leased from Bay by the County, if that container becomes damaged, Bay will repair or replace it at no cost to the owner (provided there is one currently at the residence). The County does not provide any trash containers, just the one recycling container.
• If the home is in a rental program (management company, VRBO or Air B&B), Currituck County requires there be a minimum of 1 trash can per 2 bedrooms and 1 recycle can per 3 trash cans. For example, a 6-bedroom home would have 3 trash cans and 1 recycle can.
• If you’d like to purchase your own can, you may do so with Bay Disposal (see above) or anyc local home improvement store such as ACE Hardware, Home Depot or Lowe’s. Many of these stores will offer delivery to your residence. The trash can is dark green or black and the recyclable can is kelly green with a yellow top. They are 96 gallons with a side bar and top lid.
• You may contact Bay Disposal to arrange the pick-up of “bulk trash” from your curb. Items should be placed securely to prevent items from being blown around high winds. Any cans of paint must first have a hardening agent added prior to putting by the curb. These agents may be found at ACE Hardware or local home improvement stores. Monday is the “bulk” collection day for the Club. Requests placed by Friday should be able to be met with Monday collection.
